28 Awesome Bible Verses For Father’s Day
Father’s Day is coming up later on this month, and I thought that I would spend this time by sharing lots of different Bible verses to encourage you on your walk with Christ. This is especially for fathers in the faith. I am a single mom, and I know that putting God first in my life has given me such great strength and courage when it comes to raising my child. He also encourages me to live my life the way that God intended for me to live.
And, even though my daughter does not have her father in her life, she still has God as our Heavenly Father. Father’s are very important, and even if we don’t have one, we can still turn to God who easily fills the role. Here are some other amazing fathers in the Bible that will inspire you this Father’s Day.
Although my blog is aimed towards encouraging Christian women, I still find it to be important to share different topics that relate to the men in our lives as well. Whether you have a husband, or father, or someone you are close to, who you can share these bible verses with them, to encourage them today.
Fathers Are Important
We are all created with a unique purpose and as fathers, one of the main purposes is to raise up our children in The Lord. When we put God first, at the head of our household, our influence and focus shifts from that of the world, to that of The Word. When we fully submit to God and obey Him, our lives change for the better. We, as Christians, must follow God in all that we do, and allow Him to guide us on the right path; on the straight and narrow. When it comes to our children, we must raise them in the right way, the Biblical way, and encourage them to follow God, too.
I pray that you have a wonderful Father’s Day with your family and that you are encouraged by these Bible verses I have shared here:
Bible verses for Father’s Day in the Old Testament:
- Deuteronomy 1:31 – “And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place”.
- Deuteronomy 31:6 – “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”.
- Joshua 1:9 – “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest”.
- Joshua 24:15 – “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”.
- 2 Samuel 7:14-15 – “I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee”.
- Psalm 32:7-8 – “Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye”.
- Psalm 103:13 – “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him”.
- Psalm 127:3-5 – “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate”.
- Proverbs 1:8 – “My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:”
- Proverbs 3:11-12 – “My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth”.
- Proverbs 4:1-2 –“Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law”.
- Proverbs 4:11-12 – “I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble”.
- Proverbs 20:7 – “The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him”.
- Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.
- Proverbs 23:22, 24 – “Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old…The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him”.
- Jeremiah 31:3 – “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee”.
- Malachi 4:6 – “And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse”.
Bible Verses In The New Testament:
18. Matthew 7:9-11 – “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
19. Luke 15:20 – “And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him”.
20. Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”.
21. 1 Corinthians 16:13 – “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong”.
22. Ephesians 6:4 – “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord”.
23. Ephesians 6:10-13 – “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand”.
24. Hebrews 12:7 – “If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?”
25. 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”.
26. 2 Timothy 2:15 – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.
27. 2 Timothy 3:15-17 –“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works”.
28. 3 John 1:4 – “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth”.
God is our Heavenly Father, our Creator, our Comforter and Provider. No matter what we are going through, God will always guides us through it all, and never leave us or forsake us. Even when times get tough, or we have moments where we just want to break free from the parental obligations, and just have a moment to ourselves, God will be there for us. Enjoy this time with your family and friends, and know that you are an amazing person and an incredible father to your children!
