3 Easy Ways To Celebrate Passover As A Christian
Do you celebrate Passover or Easter? In a previous post of mine, I discussed what the Bible says about Passover, as well as shed light into the truth about Easter, here. To summarize, Passover is a Biblical tradition. It first started when God freed the people of Israel from the Egyptians, in Exodus. Nowadays, it is commonly a Jewish tradition, but can still be celebrated by Christians because Jesus celebrated Passover (before He was crucified, buried and resurrected).
The religious festival of Passover is a seven day celebration that begins on the 14th of Nisan (which is in March or April) at sunset. The Feast of Unleavened Bread is included in the Passover festival, as well as the Seder meal. During this time, people who celebrate Passover will rejoice over the Israelites being delivered from the hands of Pharaoh.
Now, Passover can be celebrated to commemorate the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. The blood of the Passover lamb was a representation for the coming of and sacrifice of Jesus. Jesus Christ is the Passover lamb (Exodus 12:21, 1 Corinthians 5:7).
Passover and Easter are not the same. Easter is a pagan tradition, whereas Passover has Biblical roots. Even though both fall around the same time, Christians should not be engaging in or celebrating Easter. Instead, we should look into celebrating, or at the very least, acknowledging Passover.
But how can Christian celebrate Passover? Check out these 3 easy ways to do so:
- Spend time with the Word of God and in prayer, to prepare in your heart, mind and soul, what you would like to do during this time, to celebrate Passover. Whether you have a family, or by yourself, organize a way to come together to celebrate Jesus!
For example, do you want to plan a meal together, with the bread and wine, to celebrate Passover? Have you got your Bibles ready to read all about when Passover began and why it took place? - Plan a Passover meal with your family. You can choose to have what you like for the meal, but it would be a lot more fun if you include the wine (to represent the blood of Jesus) and make unleavened bread (to represent the body of Christ, as well as the fact that the feast of unleavened bread is celebrated during this time). Your children can join in and help you make the unleavened bread!
- Sit down together as a family, or if you are alone, sit down with God, enjoy the meal, and read the scriptures about Passover. Spend this time studying the Word and learning more about when Passover started, and why it took place. Start in the OT, in Exodus where Passover first began: Exodus 11-12:30. Then, you can head over to the Gospels (Matthew 26:17-35; Mark 14:12-42; Luke 22:7-38) and read the scriptures about Jesus celebrating Passover with His disciples. Children can join in if they have their own children’s Bible, or can listen as you read the Word out aloud to them and help them understand what you are talking about.

It’s been far too long since we’ve done Passover (bread and wine) in my home. It’s always such a beautifully quiet time of reflection. I love that this seemingly small way of celebrating can bring such calm and peace to my home. I need to do this again.

The very heart of your writing whilst appearing reasonable at first, did not sit very well with me personally after some time. Someplace within the sentences you actually managed to make me a believer but just for a short while. I however have got a problem with your leaps in logic and one would do well to fill in those breaks. In the event you actually can accomplish that, I could undoubtedly be impressed.
