40 Powerful Scriptures For Trusting God In Difficult Times
There has been something on my heart lately that I wanted to share with you. Just recently, it has been five years since I left my abusive ex-boyfriend. I took the time to stop and reflect upon everything that God has done for me between then and now. He rescued me at my darkest hour. He saved me and gave me a chance to start afresh, and to protect my unborn baby (at the time).
If you didn’t know already, I was in an abusive relationship with a guy who claimed to be a Christian (but was actually a wolf in sheep’s clothing) for over three years. Five years ago, there was a breaking point in the relationship. I remember God telling me that I was going to go home on that day that I left. I did leave, and I never went back.
This relationship brought out so many difficult and trying times for me. If it wasn’t for my faith and trust in God, then I don’t know if or where I would be without Him. Because of God’s grace, love and mercy, I had been given a chance to start again, break free from the soul tie that kept me locked in to this relationship, and to take the much needed time to heal and move forward.
How To Cope With Going Through Difficult Times
As Christians, we will all go through many trials and tribulations. God never told us that we would have an easy life, but He did tell us that He will always be there for us, protect us, look after us and fight for us (Exodus 14:14). But there are so many things that we can do ourselves that will help us get through these difficult times.
When you go through difficult times, what are some things that help you? How are you able to endure these hardships?
Here are some ways that would always help me:
- Cast down imaginations
- Do not entertain the negative thoughts/worries/stresses
- Put your faith and trust in God alone
- Give it all to God in prayer and then stop obsessing over it yourself
- Put on the armor of God
- Read the Bible
- Memorize and read scriptures out aloud
The last one here I find to be very helpful. When I am reading scripture out aloud, and memorizing it, it helps to distract me because I am solely focusing on the words that I am saying. We all know that when we read the Bible, it can be such a struggle because the devil does his best at distracting us from God’s Word. This is such a great alternative for when you need to get through difficult times and are struggling with focusing on reading The Bible.
Here are 8 powerful scriptures for trusting God in difficult times (In The Old Testament):
