What Is A Strong Prayer Warrior?
A strong prayer warrior is someone who recognizes that there are evil forces at work here on this Earth. There are constantly spiritual battles happening daily, and the power of prayer can overcome this.
Think about it – people get sick, people get hurt, attacked, and deal with so many trials and struggles. And for those who know Christ, we know we have hope in life and in death. But for those who do not, they don’t recognize these things happening are spiritual attacks. That’s why we as ambassadors for Christ need to step up and be strong prayer warriors! We fight these evil spiritual attacks with the sword of the spirit and the power of prayer.
Can Anyone Become a Prayer Warrior? Yes! In fact, we are all called to pray just as Jesus did, which was about everything.
What Does The Bible Say About Prayer?
We can look all day at what we think a prayer warrior is, and even if those things are true, we always want to bring it back to what the Bible says. Anything we do in our lives – the decisions we make, the plans we have, words we hear preached – all of it must be run under the light that is God’s Word. His Word shines is a light on dark things.
So let’s take a look at what God has to say about prayer!
Since there are a ton of scriptures and passages about prayer, we will look at only a few to help you become a strong prayer warrior, and see the importance of prayer.
Here are some important points with scripture about prayer:
1. It is God’s Will for Us to Pray
“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of
God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
God calls us to pray without ceasing, in fact, this scripture tells us that it is His will for all of us!
2. God Wants Us to Bring EVERYTHING Before Him
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
There is nothing that God doesn’t know, and nothing that He doesn’t want us to bring to Him in prayer.
Read that again!
He wants us to come to Him with everything. When we present our request to Him, WITH thanksgiving, He promises to give us His peace. Peace that only comes from Him alone and that we can trust in.
3. God Wants Us to Pray Continually
“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving…” Colossians 4:2
Again, He wants us to pray continually. Not just before dinner, bed, before a big game, etc… rather, be in constant communication with the Holy Spirit each day and seeking Him out in all that we do.
4. God Reveals Unknown Things to Us Through Prayer
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3
When we are trying to make a decision in our lives, or need discernment in a situation, what should be our first response? Prayer! God reveals so much to us through prayer, which helps us live out the purpose and plan He has for us.
Now that we see how much importance God places on prayer, let’s look at a few practical ways we can become strong prayer warriors!
5 Ways To Become A Strong Prayer Warrior
These 5 things are what people who desire to become strong prayer warriors do. If you want to grow in your prayer life, then reflect on each of these things and ask God to help! Without further ado, here are a few practical ways to become a prayer warrior…
1. Spend Daily Time With God
Having an effective Christ-focused morning routine is essential in order to start your day with the mind of Christ. You are automatically prepared for when things come up.
Will your circumstances change? Not necessarily. But will the way you view those same circumstances change? Absolutely! You can bring those things before the Lord and stay in tune with Him throughout your day when you start your day in conversation with Him.
2. Pray Consistently
Strong prayer warriors are those who pray without ceasing according to 1 Thessalonians 5:16. Bringing everything to the Lord in prayer and in communication with Him daily is essential to be a prayer warrior.
This goes beyond just praying at meal times, bed time, when you wake up, etc. It’s a constant flow of communication with the Holy Spirit and also listening to what He has to say. Jesus didn’t do anything apart from what the Father told Him to do, and that’s what we want to!
3. Read And Memorize God’s Word
A part of staying in tune with the Holy Spirit and spending daily quiet time with God is reading His Word. This is the number one way He speaks to us, outside of other people and scenery around us.
When we read His Word, we can memorize it and let it transform us from the inside out. His Word breathes life into dead and dark things, and we can’t be fruitful without knowing what He’s called us to do. We have to be reminded each day of these things and ask Him for help!
This is also something you can do with your kids! Help them memorize scripture so that they can hide it in their hearts and grow into strong prayer warriors as well.
4. Pray Before Spiritual Attacks Happen
These are all sort of building off each other, did you notice that?
When you spend daily quiet time with God, in constant communication with Him throughout the day, and read His Word, you will be prepared for WHEN spiritual attacks happen. As in, they won’t take you by surprise, right? God tells us in His Word that trials will come for believers, so we can be doing these tings so that when those spiritual attacks happen, we aren’t blind sighted, and can fight off the enemy with the full armor of God on.
5. Pray Together As A Family
Lastly, make sure to pray for and with your family fervently. Satan LOVES to cause disunity in the home and break up families. Let’s not let him!
Ask God to help strengthen your family unity, and begin praying for one another. Pray together each day. You can do this by letting each person take a turn praying, or pray for one person each day, so everyone is being prayed for!
When your kids see this happening especially at a young age, praying will become the norm for them in their lives as they grow older too (Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”).
I hope that you are not only encouraged in the fact that you can be a strong prayer warrior, but now have to tools to actually do so! There is a lot of spiritual warfare, and when we as a body of Christ are in prayer, there is so much power in that. Keep seeking God out each day and in tune with His Spirit!
