How to Find Perfect Peace in an Imperfect World
So many people in this world are fighting for world peace. No more wars, no more hunger, no more struggles; just perfect peace, and unity between everyone. Unfortunately, those people will never find it because this world is corrupted. There will never be any world peace or perfection as long as sin thrives in this world.
Thankfully, though, we know that we can have peace in Jesus. In fact, we can find perfect peace in Him each day. This is because perfect peace ONLY comes from Jesus.
Why Can’t We Find Perfect Peace in This World?
The short answer is because of sin. Ever since sin came into this world in the garden of Eden, it has corrupted everything.
Perfect Peace Only Comes From Jesus
Isaiah 26:3 – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
I have been meditating on this scripture for the past couple of days. It’s really stood out for me because it’s just so true. You will have perfect peace if your mind stays focused on Christ alone.
I envision being on that boat the disciples were on, during that storm, and honestly I would have freaked out too. Jesus was asleep and everyone else was thinking, doesn’t He know, or even care?! Aren’t we all guilty of thinking and feeling the exact same thing…When we go through these storms, we often lose our focus on the One who truly matters the most, and that is Jesus. We start to fixate on the storm, or issue at hand, rather than keep our mind at bay with the perfect peace of Jesus.
Why do we do that?
Well, I think it’s because we don’t want to go through that storm. We’re scared. We’re unsure of things. We’re prone to anxiety or fear. And we don’t know what the future holds. We don’t know what is going to happen on the other side.
But one thing IS for certain is that we WILL make it through to the other side.
We always do, time and time again.
Even if God has to take us through multiple storms for us to get the message. If you look back on the trials and hardships of the past, God was always there with you. The one thing you were truly lacking was complete faith and trust in Him ALONE. You worried, you panicked, you cried, you freaked out, you called out to God asking where He was and if He even cared about what you were going through. But guess what? God was there all along.
He was teaching us a lesson. And that lesson was, and always will be, to keep your focus on Him and Him ONLY. The moment we shift our focus away from Him, then we’re looking at and worrying over the storm ahead. We can’t see the clear skies on the other end. We can’t always see that light at the end of the tunnel. But we have to know it’s there, because God promises it.
How to Find Perfect Peace Through the Dark Times
God promises to be with us and get us through these dark times. And in the meantime we have to figure out:
1. What it is that God wants us to learn WHILST in the midst of the storm?
2. How to overcome the battles of the mind (fear, worry, anxiety, stress)
3. How to change your mindset to be more like Christ
4. How to truly put your faith and trust in Christ alone, and honestly not care about worrying or focusing on the storm itself because your mind is stayed on Him, and it is filled with His perfect peace.
We can only experience that if we truly let everything else go. Your mind cannot experience both gratitude and anxiety at the same time.
You Can Choose to Have This Perfect Peace or Not
So the choice is yours. What are you going to fill your mind with today?
It honestly is a choice because you can choose to entertain those negative thoughts and feelings, or you can cast down those imaginations and tell them to submit to the obedience of Christ, and therefore make room for positive, peaceful, grateful, loving thoughts and feelings from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
These mental battles won’t necessarily go away. But over time you will continue to work on getting stronger in the faith and more resilient, too. You’ll be able to let go of any negative thought or feeling that the devil may sneak in to your mind, cast it out and not care or worry about those things It just takes time.
Thankfully, God is always with us. He never leaves us nor forsakes us. He truly cares about us. And He knows everything about us, so He knows our weaknesses and through HIS strength, we are able to do all things through Christ, and become conquerors over our minds.
Stay encouraged,
God Bless.
