The Best New Year Goals for Christian Women
Another year has come and gone, and God has blessed us with the year 2025. I know I am a bit late to post this, but better late than never. For so many in the world, people will put together a list of goals they want to achieve for the new year. Whether it be some type of new year’s resolution or simply a word to live by, it’s something to set your focus on. But for us Christian women, our main focus is God. We want to keep eyes on the things above, and not of this world (Colossians 3:2).
In saying this, I believe it is fine to set goals to achieve in the new year. Whether they be personal such as focusing more on your health and wellness, or working harder at achieving goals at work. The most important thing is that the foundation for these goals is God-led (doing God’s Will in our lives). Now with that being said, setting up Godly goals to achieve in the new year, or even just smaller things to focus on each day/week, let it all be Christ-centered.
What are some examples of New Year Goals for Christian Women?
What are some examples of Godly goals/Christ-centered resolutions for the new years? I have covered this topic a few years ago where I wrote a whole list of spiritual goals to achieve in the new year here. But because it has been a few years since I have written that, I thought I would start afresh.
This past year alone has been such a big one for me. I struggled with a few different health-related issues, made and lost friends, went to a new Church and found my place at Church where I can actively serve the Lord and use the spiritual gifts that God has blessed with me.
When I look back at the year 2024, it was a big year of change, and progress too. I am not sure how your last year went, but I hope and pray that this year will be an even better one for you.
When we set out to achieve Godly goals for the new year, we have to make them according to His Will. This is because everything that we do should be to glorify Him. God created each and every one of us to glorify Him. This life is not about us; it is about the Lord.
Therefore, these goals what I will share below are going to be the key ones to focus on each day that will help you grow and mature in the faith as a Christian.
Always Keep Your Focus on God This Year
Something big that I have learned this past year is to slow down, be still in God’s presence and truly listen to what He has to say. We get so caught up in our day-to-day lives that we (unintentionally) block out God’s voice. But once you redirect your focus to putting God first each day, spending time in His Word, staying in prayer, meditating on the scriptures and listening to God, you will truly grow in the faith as a Christian, and start to understand and hear God’s voice more.
Other examples of Godly goals for the new year include:
- Going to Church
- Finding a place to serve at Church
- Understanding and using the Spiritual gift/s in your life
- Bible study
- Fellowship with others in the faith
- Sharing the Gospel with others/being a witness (1 Peter 3:15)
- Devotions
- Taking care of yourself/your health
- Raising Godly children in the home/being a Godly mother/wife – following what the scriptures say
- Doing God’s Will each day
- Practicing self-care
- Caring for your friends/being there for one another – supporting your brethren

Strengthen Your Prayer Life
I have been reading this incredible book on prayer called, Prayer: Asking and Receiving by John R. Rice and it has really helped strengthen my prayer life. Prayer is asking. In Matthew 7:7-8, Jesus says “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened”.
When we pray to God about things, we must first know what the will of God is, pray according to His Will, pray earnestly and completely trust that He will hear and answer your prayers. And also know that faith pleases God. When we ask God something in prayer, we must have complete faith that God will then hear and answer our prayers. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
You can ask for anything and everything that you desire in prayer, as long as it aligns with God’s Will. Strengthen your prayer life this year.
2. Read the Word Daily + Meditate on the Scriptures
Get in the Word each day. Wake up in the morning and read the scriptures before you do anything else. This is better than getting on your phone first thing in the morning and being sucked in to social media or drama or whatever else is going on in the world. Let your mind, and soul be consumed with the Word of God first thing each day. This will encourage you to start off on the right foot. Talk to God in prayer and read His Word. Ask for Him to show you where to read if you are unsure where to start, or even follow a Bible reading plan if that suits, as well.
In addition to reading the Bible, you should also take the time to meditate on the scriptures. What does this mean? To meditate in the Bible means to murmur, muse, speak. So for example when you are thinking about something and you might talk to yourself about it, think on it, bring it up, it’s the same for scriptures too. After we read the Bible, we should be musing over and speaking about those scriptures to ourselves. It’s not something to just read about and then forget and move on. The scriptures are so powerful and meaningful and should be incorporated into our daily lives. This is a great way to do that.
Psalm 143:5 – “I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands”.
3. Share the Gospel with Others
1 Peter 3:15 – “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”
We should always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks us about our faith. We are the light of the world. The light of Christ shines bright within us. People will see that and ask: what are you so happy about, what makes you feel good today, what makes you look/feel so confident? The answer is always Jesus! Tell the world about Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mark 16:15 – “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”.
We are disciples of Jesus and should be going out into the world and sharing the Good News! (Just like what the disciples were commanded to do). See if you can organise going out two-by-two after Church service, or during the week. Organise with some friends to go door-knocking, and hand out tracts about Jesus. Make Jesus known!
4. Live a Life that Pleases God – Be More Like Jesus
Ephesians 4:24 – “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness”.
Every day we are to put on the new man. It is a constant battle to actively walk in the Spirit and deny the desires of the flesh. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you any unrepentant sin in your life, and confess it to God. Also ask for the Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you to do God’s Will in your life each day. Every day we want to strive towards being more like Jesus and less like ourselves. Deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow Him.
Luke 9:23 – “ And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me”.
5. Be led by the Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:16 – “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh”.
Romans 8:14 – “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”.
What does it mean to be led by the Holy Spirit? If you want direction/guidance for every aspect of your life, then you seek the Lord, do His Will, and through the Holy Spirit, He will direct your steps. The Holy Spirit dwells in each and every one of us born-again believers. It is part of the trinity. For so many Christians, they don’t see it as part of the God-head. The Holy Spirit IS God. The Holy Spirit will correct you, guide you, encourage you and always be there for you.
When you are at Church listening to your Pastor preach, the Holy Spirit can help you understand what is being taught. He might also place certain scriptures on your mind/heart to look into and reflect upon. I know that there are times both at Church and at home when the Holy Spirit reminds me of certain scriptures I have been thinking about, or scriptures that I can read that relate to the message being preached.
When we willfully sin, we are quenching the Holy Spirit. Sin separates us from God. It damages our relationship with Him. Actively spend time with God each day, studying His Word and understand what His Will for your life is, then do it. Like I said before, ask the Holy Spirit to bring to light any unrepentant sins and confess them before God.
Praise God for Another Year – Enjoy 2025!
Let’s start the new year with a clear conscience and a God-driven motive on how to live life. We have been so blessed with another year by God. Enjoy each day, as it is such a blessing. Spend time in prayer with God and ask Him to help you write down some goals to achieve this year. And pray that the Holy Spirit will lead you and guide you on the right path each day.
Stay encouraged,
God Bless.
